provides an in-depth analysis of the
causes of the war using documents, letters, and
publications from the time period.
- Valley
of the Shadow This project
at the University of Virginia compares the perceptions of
the war in the communities of Staunton, Virginia and
Chambersburg, Pennsylvania through newspaper articles,
diaries, letters, public records, and more. Both
communities are in the Shenandoah Valley, but were on
opposite sides in the war.
