You can also use Graphic Converter to rename files. This can be very useful when transferring a group of images from a file or disk where they have a generic name that may not make a lot of sense later. I use it with images from our SonyMavika® digital camera. On the disk, they have names like "MVC-023F.JPG". This name does not conjure any picture in your mond. It is meaningless until you view the image.
***IMPORTANT***
It is easiest to rename before using the images on a web page. If you
have already used the images on a page and then rename them, they
will show up as missing images. You will have to go back to the web
page and insert the images with their new names.
Choose Convert More from the File menu in Graphic Converter and select the image file(s) to be renamed.

Click the rename button. and you will see this box:

I have marked the boxes for Add Index, I left it at a 0 offset, 2 digits, and marked Before Name. I marked Change Name and typed in the new name. I marked Change Extension and changed it to lowercase. I then clicked OK. The
results are shown here: Notice you can also add a date to the file name or place the numbers after the name. The Offset in the Add Index allows you to set the starting point. If I added more images to the above file, I would set the offset at 3 so the next image would be "04jaketruck.jpg". |
