Using Graphic Converter

I use Graphic Converter® (a Mac-Only application) from LemkeSoft to do a lot of image editing for web pages. There are a lot of other image editing applications available, but Graphic Converter is quick and easy to use and very inexpensive.

To get a copy of Graphic Converter, go to the LemkeSoft website or to TuCows. You can download a trial version. Some features are disabled and a five-second reminder message appears each time it is opened until it is registered. Registration costs 55 German Deutsches Marks (about $35 US) and gives you a registration key number which unlocks all of the features. LemkeSoft will also mail you a CD with the latest version for installation. The key gives you download rights to all future versions.

The main features of Graphic Converter that I use are:

  1. Slide Show
  2. Image File Renaming
  3. Format Conversion
  4. Image Cropping
  5. Image Scaling
  6. Copying Files

There are many other features available in Graphic Converter not discussed here. For more information, see the information files that come with the registered CD version or visit the LemkeSoft website.

Copying Files with Graphic Converter

An overlooked feature in Convert More is the Copy command. It will make exact copise and move them to a new location. If you have a web site you have been working on that's on your hard drive and wish to put it on a floppy, select the folder in the left window and the floppy in the right. Click Copy and Graphic Converter will copy all of the files and folders to the new location. Even non-image files are copied and all retain their original creation dates and programs.
