Fantasy Stories

The Elementary students enjoy using Storybook Weaver to create their own fantasy stories. These stories were created by students in grades 2-5. The second grade students were given a starter sentence and told to write a story with "a beginning, a middle, and an end." By fifth grade, the students were more independent and worked with the following instructions:

  • The story must be written before any pictures are added.
  • The story must have an introduction, climax, and conclusion.
  • Be sure to develop a problem and a solution within the plot.
  • Minimum of five pages.

These stories were created using Storybook Weaver ver. 1.1 from MECC. We hope to upgrade to the CD version next year. The web pages were created by using FlashIt 3.0.2 to capture each page image. The images were then converted to .GIF format and edited with Graphic Converter 3.x. The images were linked to an html page, interlaced, and made into image maps and in Claris Home Page 3.0.
