The Siberian Tiger

By Angie

The Siberian tiger is a mammal. Mammals have hair or fur and drink milk from their mother.

A tiger needs to eat 100 pounds of food a night. The tiger eats longer and stronger animals then they are. They always hunt at night. The Siberian tiger crouches down when he or she sees what it wants so his prey won't see him. When the tiger thinks the time is right he rushes towards his prey and eats the prey. The Siberian tiger can kill elephants, buffalo, bear, and even rhinoceros. Tigers eat deer, elk, lynx, hare, and fish. After the tiger kills he drags it to a water hole for cover.

The Siberian tiger defends himself by running fast and being quick. The tiger holds his head steady so his prey won't see him. The distance the tiger jumps is important because it can run fast but not for a long time. The tiger is always quiet if it wants to eat.

The tiger's front legs have very heavy muscles for holding and pulling things. Tigers can jump 10 feet across. The tiger uses his back legs to jump. Tigers are very good swimmers and they like to play in the water. The tiger is the tallest and the most powerful cat in the world. The tiger's claws squeeze things tightly. When the tiger roars you can here it a mile away. The Siberian tiger is the largest cat in the cat family.

The spots on a mother tigers back help the cubs find their mother. Cubs are born in a cave or a hollow tree. A male cub leaves his mother at 2 years of age. A female cub stays near her mother. The mother tiger gives birth to 1-6 cubs.

The tiger lives in eastern Asia northern China and Manchuria. Other good tiger habitats are wooden hill sides. The tiger sometimes sleeps in a cave. 50 tigers are living in zoos today. Tigers live in rain forests and mangrove swamps.

I think the Siberian tiger is interesting because every Siberian tiger and ordinary tiger has different kinds of stripes.

Can you believe it 200 different kinds of stripes. They are also threatened because of their fur. Whoever is reading this do not buy coats, hats, or boats that are made of tiger fur.
