PTO is a group of parent volunteers that work with Teachers and Staff to provide extras that are not in the school budget. Come and be a part of PTO. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the CES library and daycare is provided. PTO welcomes new volunteers, all suggestions, and new ideas. If you can't make it to the PTO meetings, but would like to help out once in awhile contact Chenowith Elementary at 296-9127 to leave a message.
Standing room only at the PTO Book Fair on Open House Night.
The money raised from PTO projects is used to purchase items for the school. Some of these items include: books for our classrooms and library, ice cream bars for Open House, candy canes for Christmas, the reader board, school assemblies (storyteller Ray Ballantyne, Hood River Science Wizards, Cinderella Opera), doors on the cafeteria bathroom stalls, benches in front of the school, and the new entryway for the main office. Money has also been donated to the Kindergarten Playground Fund, 4th Grade Outdoor Experience, 5th Grade OMSI trip, and the Kindergarten Special Projects fund. PTO also purchased a new HP color scanner for the computer lab, donated funds to help get the Electives program started and donated the money to paint the Helping Hands in the cafeteria.
PTO started the Echo Hall Renovation Fund. In the spring of 1998, we sponsored a Family Carnival to raise money for this fund. New lighting has been installed in Echo Hall and PTO is now working to redo the flooring.
